New Zealand is in the southern hemisphere, so those of you in the northern hemisphere can ski starting in June and in some parts of New Zealand, the skiing and snowboarding lasts until late October and even longer, depending on what part of New Zealand you decide to visit.

Not only will you receive a warm welcome from the locals, you will also enjoy the exciting outdoor activities available, and the wonderful culture surrounding your entire visit. Generally, English is spoken everywhere in New Zealand. The skiing is done up in the mountains, so after skiing you can go back down the mountain for a game of golf or fish in one of the beautiful, clear lakes available.

New Zealand is breathtakingly beautiful with picturesque scenery and snowy mountains. Winter brings clear blue skies that are perfect for your day skiing at one of their world-class ski resorts. Another bright side to skiing in New Zealand is that there are very few trees in the ski areas, which is good if you are inclined to run into trees while skiing or snowboarding. From beginner slopes to steep and thrilling slopes for those more adventurous, New Zealand is a skier's paradise.

Mt Hutt

Mt. Hutt ski field is in the Southern Alps west of the Canterbury Plains on the South Island of New Zealand near the town of Methven. It boasts the largest area for skiing on the South Island. Mt. Hutt is only about an hour and a half from Christchurch New Zealand, where you will find the major international airport in the region.

Queenstown is one of the main snowboarding and skiing destinations in New Zealand and there are several ski areas and facilities close by. Most of the facilities offer snowmaking and snow grooming. All New Zealand ski fields also have snowboarding areas. Each ski field is unique in its own right, offering a variety of terrain and services. The choice is difficult because no matter where you go in New Zealand the skiing and snowboarding are world class.

It has the largest ski field in New Zealand, with two main ski fields, Whakapapa and Turoa. Mt. Ruapehu is full of unparalleled beauty and a great area for mountain biking and hiking through the natural splendour of the area.

New Zealand is a skier's dream with so many and varied ski fields from which to choose. No matter what your budget you will find a ski field and accommodation to meet your needs.

Tasman Glacier, Mt Cook is New Zealand's longest glacier running down the side of the mountain for 29 kilometers. Skiing the glacier is not really for beginners, but intermediate and advanced skiers will really enjoy the adventure.
